Mauro Campanella, responsible for international research projects at GARR and scientific coordinator of the TeRABIT project, will participate as a speaker on February 21st at the workshop "Einstein Telescope: Science and Technology in Italy", organized by the Italian scientific community of ET, scheduled from February 20th to 23rd in Assisi, and will be part of the roundtable "ET Observational Science and ET e-Infrastructure" on Friday, February 23rd.
The workshop aims to highlight the fundamental role of Italian research institutions and universities in the ET project, highlighting their scientific and technological contributions. Furthermore, it aims to disseminate international progress achieved in the field and to consolidate the Italian scientific strategy related to ET.
In his presentation "Synergies: the TeRABIT project", Campanella will delve into how the TeRABIT infrastructure will be functional for the realization of the Einstein Telescope, the European project for a third-generation interferometer for the detection of gravitational waves.
The observatory will require the sharing, with very low latency, of large amounts of data with the global scientific community, and therefore the ultra-fast fiber connection of the Sos Enattos site is an essential prerequisite.
Furthermore, the significant contribution of TeRABIT to the technological growth of our country, and in particular of Sardinia, will be explored.
